The Volta Regional Police Command intercepts bags of Indian hemp

The Volta Regional Police Command has intercepted bags and drums containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp at Kayira in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region.

The Command has also arrested four suspects in connection with the drugs which is estimated to have a street value of about 300 thousand Ghana Cedis. At a press briefing in Ho, the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ebenezer Doku said, the Command deployed a 25-member team from the SWAT Unit upon a tip off that the illicit drugs were kept at a location waiting to be transported.

He said prior to entering the community two men were seen carrying two bags of leaves suspected to be Indian hemp on a motor bike but the two sensing danger escaped at the sight the police. The team, according to DCOP Doku later conducted a search and found 50 bags and five drums of the dried leaves in addition to four locally manufactured guns at the location.
