Some concerned citizens in Hohoe in the Volta Region are unhappy about a joint operation between the  Police MTTD and DVLA in checking Road worthy Certificates, triangles and insurance of vehicles.

A driver, Stanley Dzandu who observed the exercise is asking why the two Departments should jointly perform a duty which is the preserve of the Police MTTD.

Reacting to the concerns from the Volta Region, the Public Affairs Director of the DVLA, Francis Tuffour said it is the mandate of the DVLA to check road worthy certificates, insurance and other documents, but because the DVLA does not have the power of arrest, it depends on the Police to ensure that the right safety regulations are adhered to.
