Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, held a promising meeting on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with GCB Bank’s leadership to advance the operationalization of the Ghana Sports Fund.

The discussions signal a potential powerhouse partnership aimed at fueling sports development across the country through structured funding and expertise.

Kofi Adams highlighted the bank’s deep-rooted interest in collaborating with the Ministry, noting that GCB’s commitment began well before the Ghana Sports Fund Bill became law.

“That consistency speaks to a genuine commitment to sports development and to building sustainable systems, not just responding to policy headlines,” he stated, emphasizing the partnership’s authenticity.

Beyond simple donations, GCB Bank pledged to mobilize resources and create robust governance for the fund.

The bank promised an investment-driven approach to ensure long-term sustainability, supporting athletes, federations, and communities nationwide with reliable financial backing.

GCB also offered its technical, digital, and operational know-how to streamline the fund’s administration.

Working alongside the Fund’s Board and the Ministry, they aim to build a transparent and efficient system that maximizes impact.

Adams expressed gratitude to GCB’s leadership and the Fund’s Chair and members for their dedication.

“This is how we build partnerships that deliver real impact,” he affirmed, marking a key step toward transforming Ghana’s sports landscape.
