The Largest Agro Business Investment Platform in Africa with about 100 Businesses has been launched in Accra.

The platform with more than 40 investors, is expected to attract about 700 million dollars into the Agro Business Sector.

This will help strengthen African food systems towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Investment Platform was launched at the ongoing African Green Revolution Forum in Accra.

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta said, the platform is necessary because Africa imports about 35 billion dollars worth of food, while 43 trillion dollars free facility, remain unutilized.

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie-Akoto used the occasion to promote six crops that the government is investing in at the local level to generate 12 billion dollars instead of the over reliance on cocoa for more than a century.

The crops include oil palm, shea, coffee and rubber.

African Countries have prioritised transformation in the Agricultural sector as a key pillar of their national strategies because it contributes the biggest GDP to their economies.

For decades, leaders and scientists have been working towards using modern technologies to increase yield and address post harvest losses.

The missing gap has been how to attract the needed funding to promote agrobusiness at national and continental levels to enhance trade.

This among other reasons informed the formation of the African Green Revolution Forum.

The 10th Anniversary of AGRF was used to launch the Investment Platform to attract about 700 million dollars into the Agrobusiness sector.
