Manya Jorpanya to observe 2019 Ngmayem Festivall

The People of Manya Jorpanya Tradional area in the Greater Accra Region is set to celebrate the Ngmayem Festival on September 16 to 23, 2019.

The Ngmayem Festival is an annual festival celebrated by the people of the Manya Traditional area.

It is a celebration of the abundant harvest of the Ngma (millet), when the Krobo people, with gratitude and thanksgiving to their maker acknowledge his providence and care over the previous years and supplicate for his protection in the coming years.

Under the theme, “National Development, the Role of Traditional leadership in the 21st century”, this year’s celebration marks the 21st anniversary of the enstoolment of his Royal Majesty Nene Dr. Tei Djanhene Korabo IV.

Speaking on Uniique FM Breakfast Drive, His Royal Majesty Dr Nene Tei Djanhene Korabo IV, together with his kinsmen urged the general public to join them on the 16 September to celebrate their 21st Ngmayem Festival.

The eight days festival celebration will include a float, a clean-up exercise, a marathon, a visit to the Dodowa Forest and the Shai Hills, a beauty contest and a grand durbar of the chiefs and the people.

According to Nene Dr Tei Djanhene, there will be an ancestral visit to the Shai hills on Friday and a medical screening on Friday.

The celebration will be crowned on Saturday with a grand durbar. Dignitaries such as Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Memeber of parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, Dr Sammuel Amo Tobbin ( Executive chairman) of Tobinco Group of Companies, Mr kwasi Agyeman, Chief executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority and representatives of the South African High Commission, are all expected to grace the event.
