President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, in line with Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612) as amended.
Mrs. Asante-Asiedu, a Chartered Banker and accomplished corporate executive, brings a wealth of experience in the banking and financial services industry to her new role. Prior to her appointment, she served as the Group Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC, where she played a pivotal role in shaping customer-focused strategies and expanding financial inclusion.
An alumna of GIMPA Business School, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu holds an MBA in Marketing (2021) and also earned an MA in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University in 2005. Her academic background includes diplomas in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (1997) and in Politics and Public Affairs Reporting from the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin (2000).
In 2024, she attained the status of Chartered Executive Banker from the Chartered Institute of Bankers (Ghana), cementing her credentials in the field.
Her executive education portfolio includes programmes at some of the world’s leading business institutions, such as the Said Business School at Oxford University (2023), Wharton School (2015), and Marquette University’s Les Aspin Centre (2003).
Her appointment is seen as a significant step toward strengthening leadership at the central bank as the country navigates economic recovery and reforms in the financial sector.
