The Millennium Development Authority, MIDA, says getting more women into the power sector is crucial to the sustainability of the sector.

This is because women who acquire engineering, science and mathematics education are more resourceful and up to any task they are entrusted with.

It is in this regard that MIDA has recruited two hundred women from the universities who are pursuing engineering under the Ghana Power Compact Internship and Mentoring Programme to the various power stations.

At the placement ceremony in Accra, Chief Director at the Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry, Dr. Afisa Zakaria tapped MIDA at the back saying the move to involve women in the energy sector is a good one.
