A number of military personnel have been deployed to the Ghana Bauxite Company in Awaso in the Western North Region, to shore up security to protect management, staff and property of the company.

The deployment of the military is to prevent further violent attacks by workers of the company who are demanding better Conditions of Service.

Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Kwaku Asumah-Cheremeh, who described the action of the workers as unlawful, said the destruction of the property will not add up to their salaries.

He said the most appropriate approach was for them to engage management and put forward their grievances.

The Awasohene , Nana Kwame Amponsah condemned the action of the workers. He wondered why  anyone would destroy the place that feeds them.
