The Majority Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament has called for the immediate cancellation of the recently held parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency, following allegations of vote buying.

In a statement dated 8th February 2026, and issued from Parliament House in Accra, the caucus said it had taken note of what it described as widely circulated allegations of vote buying during the just-concluded NDC primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

The caucus strongly condemned the alleged developments, stating that they run contrary to the party’s stated agenda to reset the politics of the country.

According to the statement, the caucus held extensive deliberations on the matter, involving both its core and extended leadership. Following these discussions, the leadership resolved to formally communicate its position to the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC.

Among the resolutions reached is a call for the immediate annulment of the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary organised by the party.

The caucus also recommended that any candidate who participated in the primary and is established to have engaged in the alleged unethical conduct should be disqualified from taking part in any subsequent primary election after the annulment.

The statement stressed that the NDC Majority Caucus remains committed to restoring integrity to Ghana’s politics.

The statement was signed by Mahama Ayariga, MP, who is the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in Parliament.
