The Chairman of the National Media Commission, (NMC), Yaw Boadu Ayeboafoh has called on government to fashion out a legal frame work that empowers journalists who are abused in the line of duty, to seek justice through the NMC.

He said not only are some journalists attacked physically but some are also influenced and forced to change authentic stories which do not favour certain public officials.

Mr. Ayeboafoh was delivering the 2nd GJA 70th Anniversary Lecture at the Ghana International Press Center in Accra.

Mr. Ayeboafo however, condemned Journalists who publish unauthenticated stories without the consent of their sources.

He said sources have a right to decline being involved in a story and Journalists must respect that right.

The NMC chair therefore advised journalists to respect the rights and sentiments of their sources of information and desist from publishing or airing stories when the sources have declined to speak.
