President John Dramani Mahama says no Ghanaian, including those in the informal sector and persons living with disabilities, must be left behind as the country embraces artificial intelligence.

Speaking at the official launch of Ghana’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy in Accra on Friday, April 24, 2026, the President stressed the need for an inclusive approach to technology development that benefits all citizens.

He said the strategy will be implemented over a 10-year period with clear targets, adding that government will closely monitor progress to ensure its success.

President Mahama announced plans to establish a Responsible Artificial Intelligence Office to oversee the implementation of the strategy and coordinate stakeholders.

According to him, the vision is to build a strong national AI ecosystem by 2035 that will expand digital access, support job creation, promote local innovation, and improve public services.

The President also revealed that artificial intelligence, coding, robotics, and electronics will soon be introduced at the basic school level as part of efforts to prepare young Ghanaians for the digital future.

He called on government, academia, the private sector, and the youth to work together to ensure that AI becomes a tool for inclusion, productivity, and national development.

Mr. Mahama further urged stakeholders to invest in Ghanaian talent and innovation to build a technology-driven future shaped by local values and needs.

He officially declared Ghana’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy launched.
