Police Service, 3 others among 4 most corrupt institutions in Ghana

The Ghana Police Service, Judges and Magistrates, Government Officials and Parliamentarians have been ranked as the four most corrupt in the country.

A survey by Global Corruption Barometer Africa, released by Transparency International in partnership with Afrobarometer at the African Anti-Corruption Day, revealed that 60% of citizens indicated that government is doing a good job in the fight against corruption while 30% said government is not doing well.

Speaking at the launch of the report, the Programmes Manager of the Ghana Integrity Initiative, Mrs Mary Addah urged the state to intensify efforts towards the fight against corruption by resourcing anti-graft institutions like the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition, and the Centre for Democratic Development, to discharge their duties.

According the survey conducted by Afrobarometer, the Ghana Police Service and three other state institutions are among the highest rated corrupt institutions in the country.

The Programmes Manager of Ghana Integrity Initiative, Mrs Mary Addah gave a breakdown of the survey indicators.

The Afro barometer Project Manager with CDD-Ghana, Daniel Armah-Attoh explained how the survey was conducted.

The Global Corruption Barometer survey was implemented by Afrobarometer in thirty four countries, as part of its round seven surveys.

The survey is in collaboration with Transparency International.

A separate survey for the DR Congo was commissioned by Transparency International and conducted by Omega Research.
