The suspects being held for allegedly planning to destabilized the country are said to have planned to kidnap President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. That’s according to Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr. the Editor-in- Chief of a privately own newspaper, ‘the New Crusading Guide’ during a panel discussion.

Mr.  Malik Kweku Baako who made the disclosure on JoyTV’s weekly Current Affairs Program ‘Newsfile’ said he had seen video footages and heard audio recordings of the plot which revealed the men discussing a plan  to kidnap the President and his Vice at a public event.

He said the videos and audio recordings were taken by spies planted by the state who infiltrated their camp, are yet to be tendered in evidence.

Kweku Baako Jnr. who said he had the privilege to watch the surveillance videos said the suspects were seen manufacturing weapons that they can use to hatch their plan.

“They talk of exploding these things…They contemplated on how to kidnap Akufo-Addo and Bawumia and take over the state and manage the country. In my view this is not one of the fakes. There has been fakes before but this is not one of them…” he disclosed.

Mr. Baako said it is important for the suspects to tell their lawyers the truth.

He also advised those rubbishing the case to wait till the end.

Government in a statement last Monday said a joint security operation last Friday led to the retrieval of several arms, explosive devices and ammunition from locations in Accra and Kpone-Bawaleshie in Dodowa.

The Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah disclosed that the operation was to neutralise an elaborate plot targeted at the Presidency, and with the ultimate aim to destabilize the country.

“The arrest and seizure come after 15 months of surveillance and gathering of evidence on the activities of the prime suspects and others,” he said.

State Prosecutors on Tuesday pressed charges against Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, Dornyah “Ezor” Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Bright Alan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) a freight manager for their involvement.

Last Friday, a Senior Military Officer, Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli and a civilian employee of the Ghana Armed Forces, Gershon Akpa, were also slapped with the charge of possessing explosives and ammunitions without lawful excuse for their roles.
