Asutifi South MP, Collins Dauda adjudged best performing MP

The Member of Parliament, (MP), for Asutifi South, Collins Dauda has emerged as the best performing Member of Parliament in the country.

This was the outcome of a research conducted by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana which assessed the performance of MPs’ since their election in 2016.

The research also revealed that NDC MPs’ are performing better than NPP MPs’ on all fronts.

A Senior Lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University, Dr. Isaac Owusu-Mensah said most of the MPs’ who are under performing are first time MPs’.

He defended the authenticity of the reserach, describing it as scientific.

The research which was conducted between March and June this year, sampled the views of 100 respondents from each of the 275 constituencies in the country.

More than  96 percent of the respondents aged above 18 years, who were registered voters responded to questions such as how often their MPs’ visit the constituency, how often they hold public fora and whether MPs’ should be responsible for the development of their constitiuencies and making laws among others.

A Senior lecture at the political science department of the university of Ghana, Dr.Isaac Owusu-Mensah  who outlined  salient findings from the research, said: “The MPs who are first time MPs seem not to be doing well as compared to the old ones….the best performing member of Parliament currently is the MP for Asutifi South (Collins Dauda). He is doing extremely well and the people like him….NDC members of Parliament are doing better than NPP in all the indicators”

The research was a collaborative effort between the University of Ghana and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
