The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has asked the National Democratic Congress (NDC)  to be sincere and come to the table without preconditions to help stop political vigilantism.
Speaking on Uniiq FM’s current affairs programme ‘Focus’, the MP noted that the insincerity of politicians coupled with the endorsement of such groups within political parties have given vigilante groups the impetus to operate. He cautioned that if nothing is done about this, the country will face more problems in the future.
He admitted that both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress have vigilante groups within their parties and therefore, there is the need for both political parties to dialogue and disband these groups.
He urged the NDC to adhere to the call of President Akufo-Addo in other to help destabilized these vigilante groups.
For his part, the MP for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini reassured Ghanaians of the commitment of the NDC to fighting political vigilantism.
Meanwhile a security analyst, Kwaku Abrokwaa-Akomah,  says the two major political parties in the country are to be blamed for political vigilantism.
He urged Ghanaians to demand accountability from the leaders of these two political parties to help end political vigilantism.
