The Electoral Commission (EC) has deployed fifty-eight thousand Biometric Verification Devices to the Regions and Districts for Tuesday December 17 District level elections.

Speaking at a news conference ahead of the elections, Deputy  Chairman  in charge of Operations at the EC, Samuel Tettey, said the Electoral Commission is ready for the elections as all equipment required for the exercise, including back-up BVD’s have all been deployed to forestall any inconvenience when there is a breakdown.

The elections which will take place from 7am to 5pm, will be conducted in more than six thousand two hundred and seventy-two electoral areas with about thirty-thousand polling stations.

The Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations of the EC, Samuel Tettey, said the necessary election materials including the final voters register have been dispatched to the various Regional and Districts offices.

They have also made arrangements for  extra back-up materials for the elections. Mr Tettey said special arrangements have also been made for persons with disability to vote with ease.

Mr Tettey explained that all eligible voters whose Identity Cards are missing would be allowed to vote. Due to legal and security challenges placed on Nkoranza North, Nkoranza South and the Lower Manya Krobo Districts they will not take part in the elections.
