E/R: Minister launches projects to promote economic activities

The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, has inaugurated some projects executed by the West Akim Municipal Assembly and the MP for the area, Kyei Baffour at various communities in the municipality.

According to him, the projects are in fulfillment of government’s promise during the electioneering period to promote economic activities, education and health especially in rural areas of the country.

The projects include CHPs compound, three unit Kindergarten class room block at Pabi, a community in the municipality, and 76 ultra-modern lockable store complex which cost about one point nine million Ghana cedis at Asamankese market.

The project was executed by the DITRAC Building Construction Limited.

According to the project Consultant, Nsiah Amoako, the project was awarded to the contractor in July 2015 by the former President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

He said it was funded by the Urban Development Grant from the World Bank.

The MP for the area, Kyei Baffour, said the project will enhance economic activities and reduce unemployment rate in the area.

He said more projects will be undertaken to beautify the Asamankese Township. The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, underscored the importance of trading activities in the development of every country.

He urged the authorities of the assembly to cultivate the habit of maintenance and develop policies to prolong the lifespan of the facility.

The West Akim Municipal Chief Executive, Seth Oduro Boadu, cautioned the public to stop the propaganda that projects being executed by the current government were started by the previous government.

The Chief of Asamankese, Osabarima Adu Darko, commended the assembly for the construction of the edifice and pledged to help the assembly to prolong the lifespan of the facility.
