The Electoral Commission, EC has refuted claims that about 40 percent of the Biometric Voter Registration, BVR kits are old.
It says the new kits are completely different from the old ones in terms of appearance and functionality.
Additionally, they can print out daily information that makes data collection easy and has charging points in the front with two LED alert lights which the old one do not have.
The EC in a statement challenges those coming out with the misleading reports to name the centres where the old kits are being used.
It explained that eight thousand 500 Biometric Voter Registration Kits were bought and deployed to the field as part of the procurement of a new Biometric Voter Management System.
The EC says it will not depart from its mandate in the performance of its functions.
