EC to commence voter identification replacement exercise today

The Electoral Commission, EC, will from today, October 3, 2023 commence a voter identification replacement exercise. The exercise which will take place in all of its district offices will attract a fee of 10 cedis.

Deputy Chairman-in-charge-of-Corporate-Services, Dr Eric Bossman Asare, speaking to journalists in Accra, encouraged people who may have misplaced their Voter ID cards to take advantage of the exercise to have their missing cards replaced.

Mr. Asare, added people who also want to transfer their votes can do so from today to 9th October.

Mr. Asare also made a case for government to provide the needed resources to the resources to the National Identification Authority to cover more registrants. This, he said, will make the work of the EC more efficient, especially as the Commission will embark on another registration exercise come next year.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission says, the Voters Registration Exercise which ended yesterday will not be extended.

The Commission, however, assures the Public that arrangements have been made to ensure that eligible Ghanaians who were in the queue on or before 5:00pm yesterday, will be registered today.

A statement by the Commission expressed appreciation to the general Public for the cooperation and support during the 21-day Voters Registration Exercise.
