EC to receive nominations for Yapei-Kusawgu constituency next week

The Electoral Commission (EC) will receive nominations for the Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency on the 27th and 28th of this month.

A statement by the Commission says the move, has become necessary as a result of the death of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Constituency.

This is also in accordance with the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I.127) which states that if a candidate dies after nomination but before the election, a period of ten days shall be allowed for nominations.

The statement further noted that any person interested in contesting the Parliamentary Election should send his or her filled Nomination Forms to the Returning Officer of the Yapei/ Kusawgu Constituency, at the Yapei/Kusawgu District Office of the Electoral Commission on the 27th and 28th of this month.

It said the Returning Officer shall receive all Nominations between the hours of 7.00am and 5.00pm for the two days.

The MP, Abu Kamara, died in a fatal accident at the Datoyili police barrier on the outskirts of Tamale.
