Member of Parliament-elect for Ablekuma North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Madam Ewurabena Aubynn, has rendered an unqualified apology to all those who suffered violent attacks during the just-ended Ablekuma North parliamentary election rerun across 19 polling stations.

The MP-elect, who has added her voice to calls for a complete end to political violence in Ghana’s democratic journey, also outrightly condemned incidents of violence that nearly marred the electoral process in the constituency.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based 3FM’s current affairs programme “Sunrise”, three days after her hard-fought victory, Ewurabena Aubynn expressed regret over the reported attacks on journalists and some opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) figures. She extended an apology to all victims, regardless of their political affiliation.

“Regardless of who was attacked, I think electoral violence should be ruled out of our processes. I am sorry this had to happen to my fellow Ghanaians. I do apologise for the attack on anyone who was a victim,” the Ablekuma North MP-elect reiterated.

Madam Ewurabena Aubynn has therefore pledged to deliver strong, fair, and committed representation for her constituents in Parliament, promising that their concerns would no longer go unheard.

According to the MP-elect, her top priority is to empower the youth with jobs and entrepreneurial skills, offering a bold stance against the entrenched culture of vote-buying in Ghanaian politics.

“I have a huge responsibility on my shoulders to provide the youth with jobs and startup skills so that they do not have to wait for another four years for someone to give them GHC50 to vote for them.

I am not going to take the people of Ablekuma North for granted. It’s taken hard work to get here. Ablekuma North will have its fair share of good representation in Parliament and a voice that will channel their issues,” the MP-elect explained.
