Ex-INEC Chairman Jega visits Ghana Today

A former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria,

Professor Attahiru Jega, will be in Ghana on the invitation of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

This was disclosed in a statement signed and issued by an official of EC, Mrs. Sylvia Annor and copied to gbcghanaonline on Thursday, September 12, 2019.

The three day visit according to the statement,

forms part of efforts to broaden the EC’s scope of knowledge and also learn best practice on the electoral process both locally and internationally.

The EC believes that Jega who will be Ghana from September 12 to September 14 2019,  will bring his experience and expertise to bear on its operations especially on the conduct of the 2020 general elections.

Jega is the only INEC chairman to oversee two Nigerian General Elections (2011 and 2015).

He retired on 30 June 2015.
