Women’s participation in the next Parliament will constitute about 12 percent increase from the previous one.

Expectations are high though the increase in the number of women MPs is below the 30 percent recommended by the UN.

Speaking on GBC’s Radio Ghana, a Political Analyst, Pearl Agyeman said women MPs could be game changers if given the needed support.

She said the 7th Parliament did well in ensuring the rule of law but the 8th parliament will bring about more scrutiny and accountability.
