Four people have been arrested after a shooting incident at a registration centre in Awutu Senya in the Central Region.

The incident occurred at the ‘Kasoa Peace Town Top Hill Down’ Polling Center.

Reports say some motorbikes were burnt at the centre. Gunshots were fired in the confrontation that ensued.

It is not clear what triggered the confrontation but eyewitnesses said some men numbering about 15 arrived at the Centre and tried to drive away some prospective Registrants.

This resulted in a scuffle that saw gunshots fired and three motorbikes burnt.

The EC officers halted the registration and fled the scene.

A statement from the Kasoa Police Divisional Headquarters indicated that the suspects will be transferred to the Regional Police Headquarters in Cape Coast for further action.

The Police Commander said the command is still investigating what triggered the confrontation.
