Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has defended Sammy Gyamfi following public outcry over a viral video showing him giving U.S. dollars to Nana Agradaa, stating that Gyamfi committed no crime.

The Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, was seen in a widely circulated video handing cash in U.S. dollars to Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess turned evangelist. The footage sparked online criticism, with many Ghanaians questioning the appropriateness of his actions, especially in light of the country’s current economic challenges.

In response, Mr. Gyamfi issued an apology. He has also been summoned by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, to provide further explanation.

On Monday, May 12, MP Francis-Xavier Sosu took to Facebook to express his support, writing: “You committed no crime. The haters are hurt. Let them do their worst. God has your back.”

Public opinion on the matter remains divided. While some argue that the gesture was inappropriate for a public official, others—including Mr. Sosu—believe Gyamfi did nothing wrong.
