Panelists on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme, “Talking Point”, have alluded to the fact that former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe left a legacy that ought to be celebrated.

They contend that Mr. Mugabe challenged an imperialist and oppressive agenda that sought to cripple African economics.

An Analyst Ayitomeka Anku said despite the economic struggle characterised by embargoes and sanctions, Zimbabwe under Robert Mugabe did a great job. He said the country has managed to hold its own in the last two decades irrespective of the conditions set by foreign powers.

A Senior Researcher at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Dr. Kojo Opoku Aidoo said Africans have a lot to learn from Mr. Mugabe’s leadership Style. He was however quick to add that, Mugabe just like any other human being had his negative tendencies that tarnished his reign.

A Research Associate at the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy, LECIAD, Nana Yaw Mireku said Mugabe was a great man who raised the African flag wherever he found himself.
