Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has urged Ghanaians to forgive the minority for any shortcomings, promising a more civil approach in the days ahead.
In an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday, June 2, 2025, he acknowledged the challenges faced by the nation and emphasized the need for accountability from the government.
“We want to start by apologizing to the Ghanaian people, what happened during the intercession is something we cannot pride ourselves on. We ask for your forgiveness as we strive to do better,” Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP stated.
He further emphasized that the executive branch must remain vigilant and responsive to the needs of the citizens. “The President Mahama government should sit up. We are going to come at you multiple times to ensure you do the right thing and respect the constitution,” he asserted.
The Minority Chief Whip highlighted pressing issues affecting Ghanaians, particularly the rising cost of living. “You have promised to reduce the burden of suffering on the Ghanaian people, and we will hold you to that. The cost of living is still high, and governance must bring relief to the doorstep of the people,” he said.
Addressing concerns regarding ministerial attendance in Parliament, he called on President Mahama to ensure that ministers take their responsibilities seriously. “Some ministers do not come to Parliament. We have shown this; we have given the red flag,” he remarked. “Those who are due for questions must be in the chamber. It is crucial that they respect the people’s representatives.”
He also stated the importance of addressing health concerns, particularly in light of recent COVID-19 incidents. “We cannot sleep on this issue,” he warned. “We need to learn from what happened before and move ahead responsibly.”
As the minority prepares to hold the government accountable, Minister Annoh-Dompreh pledged a commitment to constructive dialogue and engagement in Parliament. “We will do our work as a responsible minority,” he concluded, reinforcing the call for collaboration in addressing the pressing issues facing Ghanaians today.
