The 2025 Annual Yam Festival of the chiefs and people of Klefe has become a rallying point for renewed development commitments, particularly in education and youth empowerment.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Vice President, Dr. Alex Segbefia, announced a package of interventions to strengthen the Klefe Technical Institute. He said the government will immediately provide essential resources to complete ongoing dormitory and teacher accommodation projects. In addition, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has been directed to urgently assess the institute’s infrastructure needs for inclusion in the next funding cycle.
Beyond education, Dr. Segbefia revealed that the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation will partner with the Klefe Traditional Council to promote sustainable environmental management. This partnership, he explained, will focus on tackling deforestation, illegal mining, and pollution, while safeguarding the community’s agricultural heritage.
Representing the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama, his aide, Dr. Divine Vulley, announced a donation of one hundred thousand Ghana cedis to support the people of Klefe. Dr. Asiama, through his message, emphasized the need for deliberate investments in the youth, describing them as not only future leaders but also today’s changemakers. He highlighted the Bank’s support for the construction of a five-unit boys’ dormitory at the Klefe Technical Institute as part of efforts to expand opportunities for youth advancement.

The Paramount Chief of the Klefe Traditional Area, Togbe Koku Dzaga XI, commended government and institutional support but urged citizens in the diaspora and the youth to actively contribute to community development. He also advised the younger generation to reject social vices and embrace education and skills training as tools for future success.
This year’s Yam Festival, celebrated with colourful displays of tradition, music, and dance, was held under the theme “Youth Empowerment: The Future of Our Community.” The event was attended by the Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Richmond Edem Kpotosu, the MCE for Ho, Stephen Adom, and the DCE for Ho West, Peofer Francis Dusey.
