The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has announced that government has paid GH¢9.7 billion in coupons under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).

‎The payment, made on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, brings the total amount disbursed under the programme this year to GH¢19.4 billion. According to the Finance Minister, the move reflects government’s strong commitment to honouring its obligations and is expected to boost investor confidence and enhance fiscal credibility.

‎Dr. Forson further noted that government has set up two special sinking fund accounts—a Cedi Sinking Fund Account and a US Dollar Sinking Fund Account—in line with the 2025 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review and the Public Financial Management Act. These funds will serve as liquidity buffers to support the timely redemption of bonds maturing in 2026, 2027, and 2028.

‎The Minister assured both investors and the general public that all debt obligations, including those under the DDEP, will be honoured fully and on time.
