There were heated exchanges between Members of the Minority and the Minister for Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea over his choice of words in response to a question on the status of the Affordable Housing projects started under the Kufour administration.

In the response, Mr. Atta Akyea indicated that both the Prof. Mills and John Mahama administration failed or refused to continue the project.

The use of the word “refused” did not go down well with members of the Minority who felt it was unparliamentary.

MP for Adaklu, Kwame Agbodza raised objection and asked the speaker to call the Minister to order.

The Speaker directed the Minister to use a neutral expression such as “did not” instead of ” refuse”. The minister was however not enthused with the stance of the Minority.

The Majority attempted to intervene by stating the Minister should be allowed to finish his response, and thereafter if the Minority had any objections, they could raise it. After the back and forth, the Minister eventually amended his response by using ” did not ” instead of “refuse”.
