Former Information Minister and Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says he is hopeful of serving in the next New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration in any capacity.

He expressed this desire during an interview on the GTV Breakfast Show on July, 22, 2025 when asked what lies ahead in his political career.

“I hope to stay as a Member of Parliament. I hope to have the opportunity to serve in the next NPP administration in whatever capacity,” he stated.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah, who is currently serving his third term as MP for the Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency, used the platform to reflect on the progress made in the area and the new direction his team is taking.

“We’ve done a lot of infrastructure works. We haven’t completed them and we are on it. We are now focusing a lot more attention on direct people interventions,” he said.

He noted that having tackled a substantial portion of the constituency’s infrastructure challenges, attention is now shifting to human capital development.

“Having done a chunk of the major infrastructure works, we are now spending some more time on direct human interventions,” he said.

As part of the shift towards direct human development, the MP said a skills and development initiative is underway to train five indigenous medical doctors, who will become the first locally trained and resident doctors in the district. The program is currently on course.

The MP also highlighted the successes of the constituency’s scholarship scheme, which has supported more than 500 beneficiaries so far.

“Now that we’ve done a lot of infrastructure, we want to expand to those direct human interventions some more,” he added.

Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah first entered Parliament in 2017 after he transitioned from broadcast journalism into law and politics. He was Deputy Minister for Information in 2017 before being promoted to substantive Minister in 2018.

He is known for his sharp communication skills and technocratic approach and has remained a central figure in both his party and government.
