International Democratic Union visits Veep Dr. Bawumia

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says democracy is key in national development however, this can be entrenched when the people are included in the decision making process.

It is for this reason that African countries and the world at large need to share ideas on how to improve the lives of the people through democratic values and free market trade.

Veep Dr. Bawumia indicated that the @NPP_GH and the government of @NAkufoAddo believe in the application of conservative democratic principles, the operation of strong private sector dominated market economies

Vice President Dr. Bawumia made this remark when a delegation from the International Democratic Union called on him at the Jubilee House as part of a three day working meeting in Ghana.

Founded in 1983, the International Democrat Union (IDU) is an international alliance of centre-right to right wing political parties with its Headquarters in Munich, Germany.

The Union is made up of about 80 full and associate members from 63 different countries.

The IDU provides a forum in which political parties holding similar beliefs can come together and exchange views on matters of policy and organisational interest.

From this, they act cooperatively, establish contacts, and present a unified voice toward the promotion of centre-right policies around the globe.

The visit by some members of the Union of which the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP is a member is to attend the executive working meeting and the Dual Conference to fashion out policies for the formation of the Democratic Union of Africa and scale up it membership from 5 to cover all African countries.

The delegation came from 14 African countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Namibia, Malawi among others and European countries.

The Chair of the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay, said the ideals of the International Democratic Union is what can create equal prosperity for its citizens.

The Secretary General of the International Democratic Union Christian Kattner, said the idealogy of the International Democratic Union is to promote Freedom and Democracy and to end infringement of political rights across the world.

The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, said development without freedom, democracy and free market cannot be said to be quality development.

Veep Dr. Bawumia received on behalf of President @NAkufoAddo, a plaque conferring an honorary patronship on him by the International Democrat Union.

The International Democratic Union, conferred on the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo, the honorary Patron of the Democratic Union of Africa.
