Former member of parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has called on the party to forgive and reinstate all suspended members, including Paul Afoko and Alan Kyerematen.

‎Speaking to party supporters in Takoradi during the NPP’s Thank You tour in the Western Region on 26th April, 205, Mr. Agyapong said reconciliation is the only way for the party to rebuild and win the 2028 elections. He believes that the party’s loss in the 2024 general elections was partly due to the poor handling of disciplinary issues.

‎“If we ever stand a chance to unite, I charge the national executives to grant amnesty to Afoko, Alan, and everybody who has been suspended by the party. Let’s recall them and unite,” he said.

‎He also apologized on behalf of the party to members who felt offended, stressing that peace and humility were more important than ego.

‎Meanwhile, the NPP’s 2024 flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, speaking at the same event, said investigations into the party’s defeat showed key reasons like the high cost of living, arrogance of leadership, and the government’s debt restructuring program.

‎He admitted that the party failed to listen to advice from members, such as calls to reshuffle ministers and to avoid implementing unpopular policies like the E-levy and the debt exchange program.
