Hundreds of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Ketu South municipality of Volta Region have defected to opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as they accused the MCE of “hijacking everything”.

At the brief ceremony held at Aveyiborme, a suburb of Aflao to officially receive them by issuing them with NDC membership identification cards, the Volta Regional Chairman, Henry Ametepey entreated them to feel free at home and bring more of their likes back to the NDC.

The Defectors gave several reasons for leaving the NPP for NDC by accusing the Ketu South MCE, Elliot Edem Agbenorwu of hijacking everything at the Municipality and giving them out to only his friends, “even if you are an NPP member or a polling station executive of NPP and you are not in his camp you will not get anything”.

They also expressed their misgivings about their Parliamentary candidate in person of David Tiahno Quarshie, in relation to his capacity to handle the area should he be given the opportunity to go to Parliament.

“The closure of the border by the President is negatively affecting us and our family”, he noted.

The NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Dzifa Gomashie led few of the constituency executives to witness the event.
