A Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide says government does not have any special interest in any individual that is appointed onto the new Governing Council of KNUST.
He expressed surprise at the hullabaloo surrounding the entire issue with some unions and associations taking entrenched positions.
Speaking on GBC’s ‘Behind the News’, Mr. Hadzide said there are equally more pressing issues to tackle like looking for money to fix the damages created by the violent incident at KNUST.
The Vice President of the Ghana Association of University Administrators, KNUST branch, Anthony Golo says in as much as government has the mandate in the appointment of members of the Governing Council, every stakeholder or association also has the right to choose who represents them on the Council and government must not interfere with that.
He said for peace to prevail, they are demanding that stakeholder groups are given the chance to select their own representatives.
