Kufuor mourns Former President Rawlings

Former President John Kufuor Friday expressed his condolences to the nation, family and associates of Rawlings, saying he was “deeply saddened” by the passing of former President Jerry John Rawlings.

In a press release signed by Former President John Kufuor on Friday, he said Rawlings’ untimely death came as a thunderbolt to him and his family.

He said when the time came for him to step down as president on 7th January, 2001, he obliged which has earned him a legacy of contributing to the sustenance of democratic governance of our country.

He expressed his heartfelt condolences to his wife, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, their children, and the larger family.

Mr Rawlings passed on on Thursday, November 12, after a short illness at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he was receiving medical attention. He was 73.
