Presiding Members of the 43 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Ashanti Region have called on Ghanaians to respect the three arms of government to deepen Ghana’s democracy.

This they said could empower the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary to professionally carry out their duties to enhance democracy with integrity.

The Presiding Members said this in a communiqué after a three-day conference in Kumasi.

They called on the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to implement proposed reforms that would give them a four-year mandate, provide Motorbikes and other logistics as well as provide Electoral Area Development fund for them to carry out projects of their choice.

They asked government to incorporate the ex-gratia of Assembly Members in the consolidated fund to eliminate disparities in the payment at the end of their two-year mandate.
