Flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, has reiterated his commitment to rejuvenating Ghana’s agriculture sector. He outlined plans to establish agro-industrial processing zones across all 16 regions if elected president in December.

These came up at the commencement of the NDC’s four-day #Mahama4Change2024# campaign tour in the Bono Region. Mr. Mahama in an address to the people of Nsawkaw, said an NDC government will boost Ghana’s cashew production to compensate for the cocoa sector’s decline due to illegal mining activities.

Mr. Mahama commenced his four-day #Mahama4Change2024# campaign tour in the Bono Region with courtesy calls on the Chiefs and people of Nwoase, Wenchi, Nsawkaw, Badu, Chiraa, and the traditional areas of Sunyani East and West. Throughout his visits, Mr. Mahama received various appeals from the local leaders seeking solutions to their challenges.

At Wenchi and Nsawkaw, Omanhene Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako and Okogyeaman Duodu Ampem highlighted the need for improvements in roads, education, agriculture, and employment. In response, Mr Mahama pledged that an NDC government would establish agro-industrial processing zones nationwide and significantly increase cashew production to offset the damage caused to the cocoa sector by illegal mining activities.

On education, Mr. Mahama reiterated his commitment to enhancing the free Senior High School (SHS) program if elected on December 7, 2024.
In Badu, Chiraa, Sunyani East, and West, he reaffirmed the 24-hour Economy Policy aimed at improving youth employment.
