The Majority Caucus in Parliament has paid solemn condolence visits to the families of the late Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, following their tragic deaths in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The delegation, led by members of the Majority Caucus and joined by the Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, as well as some staff of the Parliamentary Service, visited the residences of the two fallen statesmen in Accra to express sympathy and solidarity with their bereaved families.

At the residence of the late Dr. Murtala Muhammed, heartfelt messages of comfort were delivered. Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, former Minister for Finance and MP for Karaga, led an Islamic prayer on behalf of the parliamentary delegation, extolling Dr. Muhammed’s dedication to public service and his commitment to national development.
Members of Parliament also encouraged the family to take solace in the impactful legacy left behind by the late MP and cabinet minister.

The delegation later proceeded to the home of the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah. Due to the family’s request for privacy, members of the media were asked to remain outside the residence.

Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, described the crash as a national tragedy. “This tragic incident is a devastating one and a big blow to the nation,” he said.

The visits form part of a series of national mourning efforts to honour the eight individuals who perished in the helicopter crash. As the country continues to grapple with the magnitude of the loss, tributes have been pouring in for the distinguished public servants who dedicated their lives to the service of Ghana.
