President Akufo-Addo has appointed eleven personalities to serve as members of the Council of State. Majority of them are from the recent past membership.
In an interview with GBC News, Political Scientist, Dr. Alidu Seidu said the retention of majority of the old members is a reposition of confidence in them.
He however cautioned that the Members of the Council should respond to the needs of the citizens, and not to do the bidding of the appointing authority.
Dr. Seidu added that independence of members is crucial in disabusing the sentiment that they are appendages of the President.
