The Minority in Parliament has accused the Finance Minister of cooking up figures to hide the true nature of the economy.

A member of the Finance Committee of Parliament, Isaac Adongo, said the accounts presented to Ghanaians as money spent have many inconsistencies.

Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta requested Parliament’s approval to spend an extra ¢11.8billion for the 2020 fiscal year. This is in addition to the ¢85.9billion approved at the end of 2019 for government’s expenditure for 2020.

But Isaac Adongo, Bolgatanga Central MP, says “in actual fact, the deficit that they are estimating for 2020 is 16.6% of GDP and not 11.8% of GDP.”
