The Member of Parliament for Lambussie and a Vice Chairman of Public Account Committee in Parliament,  Edward Kaale-Ewola Dery has described the introduction of new Currency notes: Gh¢100 and Gh¢200 as ‘thievery’.

Kaale Ewola  explained that, getting a change for existing 20 and 50 Ghana cedis notes is a challenge for traders.

According to him, traders sometimes go through hell before getting smaller denominations to give change, so why the introduction of these bigger notes in the economy?

In an interview with some Parliamentary Press Corps, Kaale-Ewola revealed that,  “it is a way for NPP government to collaborate with the Bank of Ghana to steal from the taxpayer and a would not serve any good purpose since this newly introduced currency would not have any effect in reducing inflation in the system”.

He has therefore called on government and Bank of Ghana to come out and tell Ghanaians how much it cost in printing  those denominations.

He believed,  it is a way the government wants to use to steal money for their campaign come 2020 general elections.
