The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso constituency in Ashanti, Kennedy Kankam, escaped an assassination attempt when three unidentified gunmen stormed his Nhyiaeso residence at night on Sunday, November 3, 2019.

At about 1: 00 am, Mr. Kankam and his family were said to be in the house when the incident took place.

The gunmen allegedly broke into the bedroom with the intention to kill him but his life was spared, following negotiations he made with them.

According to Mr. Kankam, the leader of the gunmen, came back after leaving the house to warn him to be careful since those who sent them to kill him were still around and could strike any time.

The negotiation that got his life and that of his family spared lasted for almost three hours

An unspecified amount of money in pounds sterling, US dollars, Ghana cedis, TV set, mobile handsets, Laptops, and his V8 Car were taken in exchange for his life and that of his family.
