The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is facing criticism for awarding sole-sourced road contracts under the Big Push initiative, despite previously condemning the practice while in opposition.
Spokesperson for Dr Bawumia’s campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has accused the ruling government of hypocrisy, citing past statements in which the NDC criticised sole sourcing. He said many Ghanaians are disappointed that the party is now using a procurement method it once pledged to abolish.
He questioned why the government is resorting to sole sourcing after previously describing it as a tool for corruption.
“Ghanaians are angry because they voted for the NDC, who promised them sole sourcing would be a thing of the past, which is not the case now,” he said.
Speaking on GBC’s Current Agenda, Mr Aboagye also raised concerns about the selection of contractors under the Big Push project, noting that some had previously been criticised by the same political actors.
He added that Ghanaians deserve accountability and remorse rather than justification for what he described as a breach of campaign promises on sole sourcing.
