More than 355,000 delegates to vote in NDC’s primaries

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), is set for its 2023 Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries scheduled for May 13, 2023, in two hundred and seventy-seven (277) constituencies to elect both the Presidential and Parliamentary Candidates for the 2024 general elections.

According to the release on default delegates population and voting centres issued in Accra by the Party a few days ago, a total of three hundred fifty-five thousand and ninety-two (355, 092) delegates, down from thirty-eight thousand five hundred and ninety-six (38,596) polling stations, are expected to converge at four hundred and one (401) voting centres for the exercise.

The people who constitute the delegates for this election are drawn from nine-member branch executives, Constituency Executives, Regional Executives, National Executives, former MMDCEs, former Ministers of State, former other government appointees, and other persons or groups recognised by the party constitution in accordance with the recently issued guidelines for the conduct of this election.

The nationwide election will be conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission of Ghana in conjunction with the Party’s Election Directorate in each constituency. 

For the Presidential race, three people are on the ballot, including former President John Dramani Mahama, former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, and former Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu.

For the parliamentary elections, hundreds have filed to contest.
