National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has issued a formal apology to Professor Ransford Gyampo for leveling unfounded allegations against him.

On Friday, November 1, 2024, Mustapha retracted his previous statements, admitting he lacked evidence to support his claims.

Mustapha had accused Prof. Gyampo of collaborating with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to influence student voting using the UTAG strike as a tactic. He also claimed Prof. Gyampo sought an NDC government appointment and had a negative international reputation due to misconduct allegations.

However, in a statement, Mustapha admitted: “Lawyers for Prof. Gyampo drew my attention to the defamatory nature of my press release. Given I have no evidence, I hereby retract and offer an unqualified apology.”

The apology follows engagement from Prof. Gyampo’s lawyers, highlighting the defamatory claims.
