Parliament suspends sittings after 17 MPs, 151 staff test positive for COVID-19

Parliament has suspended sittings for three weeks due to increasing COVID-19 cases.

The number of MPs who have contracted the virus has risen to 17 while that of staff has gone up to 151.

To prevent further spread, the House has adjourned sittings and will resume on March 2.

Members of Parliament (MPs) and staff are to avail themselves again for testing two weeks from today, February 10, 2021.

Meanwhile, the Appointments Committee will carry on with its scheduled vetting of Minister nominees starting today.
