The National Peace Council (NPC) has invited the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to a short meeting ahead of the Akwatia by-elections.

‎‎In a letter issued on Saturday August 30, 2025 and signed by the Executive Secretary, Dr. George Amoh, the Council said the meeting is part of ongoing efforts to promote peace before the polls.

‎The NPC explained that the decision follows earlier engagements with the NDC on July 29 and the NPP on July 30, 2025. The Council said it had promised to bring both parties together for dialogue before the elections.

‎The meeting is scheduled to take place in Akwatia on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 2 p.m.

‎‎The Peace Council expressed appreciation to both parties for their cooperation despite the short notice.
