A new pensions scheme for Cocoa farmers is set to be in place before December 2020. Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who announced this said the scheme will be launched in due course to bring respite to cocoa farmers.

Chief Executive of COCOBOD, Joseph Boahen Aidoo, had hinted last month, the launch of a widely anticipated Cocoa Farmers Pension Scheme until it was postponed for further consultations.

Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs and people of Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region, Vice President Bawumia said government’s Economic Management team, COCOBOD and stakeholders have had extensive discussions and the scheme will be launched before the December polls.

The Vice President also used his campaign to propagate the Akufo-led government’s achievement in the Education and other sectors of the Economy.

He said a vote to keep the NPP government in power is a vote for a brighter future for all Ghanaians.

According to him, the Akufo-Addo-led administration has proven itself in the last four years than what the NDC did in eight years.
