The Acting National Women’s Organiser of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Patience Lamisi Adam, has announced that, as part of the initiative of the PNC, Operation Get Women Parliamentarians, the party has intended to file 40 percent of women Parliamentary Candidates across the country in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

As a result, Mrs. Adam has urged Ghanaian voters to support and vote for these capable and dedicated women, who are committed to serving their various constituencies with integrity and passion.

She made the announcement during a press conference in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital, organised by the party’s Women’s Wing of the Southern Regions after a three-day capacity-building workshop for women in the southern sector.

She noted that their aim is to empower and equip women vying for the Parliamentary seats with the necessary skills and knowledge to actively participate in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections.

Mrs. Adam added that they believe in the power of women’s representation in governance and committed that women’s voices are heard and their contributions valued in shaping the future of the country.

She therefore appealed to Ghanaians to broaden their support beyond traditional party lines and consider supporting women candidates of the PNC.

Answering a question as to whether they are disappointed in the current attacks on Professor Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang after her nomination as running mate for the National Democratic Congress, NDC, the acting Women’s Organiser of the PNC noted that, though the attacks are unfortunate, she encouraged Professor Opoku Agyemang to see those attacks as some of the challenges that she must overcome.
